Our Mission
Te Whare Korowai Taangata o Kirikiriroa is dedicated to providing accommodation and support to homeless adults in Kirikiriroa.
Our community are the most vulnerable people in society and we strive to support them on their journey of homelessness to be able to live independently within the wider community once again.
Each year we provide over 20,000 beds nights and see around 3,000 visits a year with our visitors service.

Whats happening in our space...
25 Years in Service
On Monday the 26th of August we celebrated our 25-Year Anniversary. On the night our Kaiwhakahaere Matua mentioned that over the past 25 years, we have provided over 150,000 bed nights to those who would otherwise be homeless in Kirikiriroa.
Although life-changing data, our ‘why’ sits on the negative subject of homelessness. A quote that was shared by Murray Edridge “I’d rather fail than succeed at something that doesn’t matter". Homelessness matters, and the lives of the people matter so in that we celebrate 25 years of caring, supporting and advocating for people.
We know that we wouldn't be able to operate without the generous support from our community, funders, supporters and partners. We look forward to our next 25 years and where that will take us and thank you all for the unwavering support!!!
World Homeless Day
We joined Manaaki Rangatahi and other collaborating organisations to bring attention to the challenges and experiences of youth homelessness.
As part of our presence, guests within our service volunteered to help out and represent Te Whare Korowai. Check out our supporter hoodies!
We also provided clothing and shoes from our community store, free for anyone in need.
Social Action
Students from Hamilton Girls' High School dropped off three big trays of pasta bake they made themselves for our Emergency Housing site.
The students covered the topic of food insecurity in their year 12 social studies class and chose to help the community out by using social action. They did a fundraiser to donate to this cause and approached us with their raised amount to see if we would like the money or food.
A warm cooked meal is hard to come by in our space so we are so grateful when opportunities like this come by and our guests feel it too.Thank you to the students who reached out and supported our cause, best of luck for the rest of your school year.
